Welcome!
My name is Mrs. Janine Bacon, and this is my fourth year teaching at Oakbrook School! I graduated from Wheaton College in 2015 with a Bachelor's in Music Education. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with our young musicians and watch them learn and grow!
This website serves as a way to connect with Oakbrook families, so there is anything I can help you with, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

Classroom Information
Each class receives music for 25 minutes twice per week. First grade students receive music year-round, and kindergarten students will receive music in the early winter leading up to the annual Holiday Program. In our class, some of the topics are covered are rhythm, melody, steady beat, proper instrument technique, using the singing voice, improvisation, folk dancing, and much more. Ask your students to share the music that they learn at school- you will be surprised with what they are learning! You can also follow our progress on Twitter at @missmeansmusic
Student behavior is followed exactly as it would be during regular classroom time- students will receive a warning for behavior management and then will begin to receive strikes. If two strikes are received in the same class period, an e-mail will be sent to parents explaining the behavior. Students will also be aiming for a positive behavior goal, which will allow them to have a free day in music class!
